James D McDade Trust Scholarship
Residency-Applicants must have lived within the boundaries of Crane Union High School, District No. IJ for not less than eight years as of the day the applicant graduates from Crane Union High School. The eight years need not be consecutive but must include the four years the applicant was in high school.
Applicant's cumulative GPA must fall within the top 33 I/3 percent of the applicant's class at the time of application. Applicants shall be judged on school and out-of-school activities, citizenship, work requirements, relationship with co-students and faculty, and academic achievement. Conduct at home and in the community shall be included in the evaluation process. Students must go to college in the fall of the year or reapply. Students who plan to go in the service, missions, or other endeavors will not be awarded scholarships at the present time. The scholarship monies are intended for students attending college in the upcoming fall quarter or semester. However, students can apply for the scholarship at a later date when they plan to return and go to college if they meet the qualifications of the scholarship.
A scholarship may be awarded to a student who has been accepted at any state accredited college, university, community college or vocational school within the United States.
Scholarship is equal to $2,000 or $4,000 per year. Students may be awarded up to four annual scholarships, Specific amount and number of scholarships are to be determined each year by the committee. The total allowed is $24,000 per year for all students. This includes both incoming and those attending college. The scholarship is on a rotating basis.
TERMS OF CONTINUING ELIGIBILITY
To maintain an award, or to obtain an additional award, students must carry a normal academic load, maintain at least a C average or it's equivalent in each semester/quarter, not be convicted of any felony, and provide any additional information requested by the committee. A student may miss up to four semesters or six quarters without negatively impacting their previous award if appropriately justified to the committee. Applicants shall have up to six years from the date of graduation from Crane Union High School to complete a four-year course.
